Dayton Audio OPAL1 2-Way Bookshelf Speakers 200W 8Ω 32Hz - 20kHz (Pair)
These Dayton Audio OPAL1 2-way bookshelf speakers offer excellent sound reproduction thanks to a quality design that pays close attention to detail, coupled with a MMAG woofer and a silk dome tweeter. The OPAL1 can deliver up to 200W RMS of power. To get the best out of them, Dayton Audio recommends using an amplifier capable of delivering between 75 and 200W of power per channel at 8 Ω.
Dayton Audio OPAL1: MMAG woofer
At the heart of OPAL1 is a Ø14cm dual-spaced MMAG (Multiple Magnetic Air Gap) woofer. This motor technology, coupled with extensive ventilation, gives very fine control of the diaphragm, high excursion, low distortion and above-average power. The diaphragm is made of carbon fibre to combine rigidity and lightness, and has a contour specially designed to produce a very smooth midrange.
Dayton Audio OPAL1: Silk dome tweeter
The high frequencies produced by OPAL1 bookshelf speakers are delegated to Dayton Audio's very first silk dome tweeter. This silk dome is mounted on a widely ventilated aluminium voice coil for even finer power management. A copper disc completes the assembly by covering the spacing, containing the magnetic field created to prevent eddy current losses or any other distortion.
A asymmetric crossover centred on 2,300 Hz marries the tweeter and the midbass driver, delivering a smooth, perfectly transparent sound whose power defies the small size of these bookshelf speakers.
Dayton Audio OPAL1: Passive radiators for bass extension
Always with a vision of offering more than its small size suggests, the OAL1's bass extension is entrusted to two passive radiators located at the rear of the enclosure. These bookshelf speakers are therefore capable of an average bass extension of 30Hz.
