With the H7, Shanling unveils a portable DAC and headphone amplifier with integrated player, based on high-end components such as an AK4499EX DAC chip accompanied by its AK4191EQ Delta-Sigma modulator. The presence of a latest-generation USB XMOS interface coupled with AKM chips enables the H7 to process signals up to PCM 32bit 768kHz and DSD512. Furthermore, the beautiful AB-class amplification coupled with the various gain settings enable this device to drive even the most demanding headphones, while offering a warm, smooth sound with ample dynamics.
The H7 features the new generation of AKM's flagship DAC system. This combo of a Delta-Sigma AK4191EQ modulator and an AK4499EX DAC splits the digital/analog conversion between the two chips to improve overall system performance. This approach, coupled with an XMOS XU316 USB interface, enables signals up to PCM 32bit 768kHz and DSD512 to be processed, while offering a signal-to-noise ratio of 123dB and a harmonic distortion rate of just 0.00006%.
The H7's amplifier stage has been developed around a Class AB TPA6120A2 amplifier chip. This is accompanied by Elna Silmic II capacitors to deliver a warm yet soft, deeply organic sound. Furthermore, to ensure broad compatibility with the majority of headphones, the H7 has 3 different gain settings, providing up to 1300mW output power at 32Ω to drive the most demanding headphones.
The H7 has benefited from special attention to detail in every aspect of its design. Many of the components were developed in-house by Shanling. Starting with the FPGA and the internal clock with dual 45 MHz / 49 MHz low-noise active oscillators, enabling phase noise to be reduced to extremely low levels. Furthermore, the I/V conversion stage based on a pair of ADA4896-2 OPAs features resistors and capacitors specially selected by Shanling to deliver the best possible performance. Finally, the brand has selected an OPA2211 coupled with 100μF capacitors as low-pass filter for extremely low noise and wide bandwidth.
The H7 is equipped with a wide range of connectors to ensure compatibility with the widest possible range of configurations. On the input side, the H7 has a coaxial input that can also receive an optical signal, a USB-C input, and a micro SD port.
On the output side, furthermore to a line output, the H7 has 3 headphone outputs in Jack 3.5mm, Jack 4.4mm and Jack 6.35mm, allowing you to connect to them, whatever your headphone connection.
The Shanling H7 can be transformed into a high-quality Bluetooth DAC/headphone amplifier. It supports the high-resolution Bluetooth codecs LDAC (Android) and AAC (IOS).
To take you wherever you go, the H7 is equipped with two 18650 batteries for a total capacity of 6800mAh, plus a dedicated power management unit. This gives it an autonomy of 10h of continuous listening on Single-ended and 8h of continuous listening on Balanced.
To easily browse the files on the micro SD card inserted in the H7, or simply modify its settings such as UAC 1.0 activation, you can use the Eddict Player application available on Android and iOS, allowing you to enjoy lossless files without the need for cables or a Bluetooth connection.
The H7's LED indicators let you read various information at a glance, such as the sampling rate being played back or the state of charge.
