The Audiophonics HPA-S500ET power amplifier unveils a Class D architecture based on a pair of Purifi 1ET7040SA modules and a custom-designed power supply to enable the amplifier to deliver its full potential. Like all Audiophonics Workshop products, the HPA-S500ET is meticulously designed and assembled by hand in our workshop in France.
With this model, you get a powerful, high-performance amplification solution, capable of powering demanding audio systems while delivering incredibly fine, linear sound reproduction. There's no compromise between power and sonic precision. Purifi modules feature a particularly rigorous design for exceptional measured performance.
All components are housed in a sturdy, solid aluminum enclosure, with openings and heat sinks for efficient heat dissipation. Its design also limits the impact of interference on the signal.
Each channel of the amplifier circuit uses its own Purifi 1ET7040SA module. These incorporate a high-performance Class D architecture with an available power of 2x500W into 4Ω or 2x250W into 8Ω and a high efficiency of 94%. They also ensure incredibly low levels of THD, intermodulation distortion and noise, favoring rich, precise and perfectly transparent sound reproduction, respecting the original audio signal to reproduce your music with flawless, coloration-free fidelity. It also guarantees a wide, realistic sound image for perfect immersion.
The main feature of the ET7040SA compared to its little brother the ET400A is its current capacity, making it stable under 2ohm, and bringing its maximum power to 950W. What's more, the frequency response of these modules is totally independent of load, allowing you to take full advantage of the capabilities of this design, even with speakers that are difficult to drive. The circuit also benefits from a high level of rejection (PSRR), reducing the impact of the power supply on audio performance. The two Purifi 1ET7040SA amplifier modules are linked by a specially developed interface board for optimum integration.
The Audiophonics HPA-S500ET features a specially designed, high-efficiency PFC switching power supply. Delivering a power of 2000W and a voltage of 70V, it provides optimum, clean and stable power to the amplifier modules. The modules are thus able to deliver their full potential and develop their full power, without restriction.
This power supply also ensures very low noise levels, and incorporates two stages of EMI filtering. Output voltages are tightly regulated, and the PFC system offers effective power factor correction for a particularly clean signal. This power supply also features automatic 110V/220V AC switching, enabling the amplifier to be powered without risk.
The two modules are controlled in phase opposition, to cancel the "Power Supply Pumping" effect. This makes for greater power supply stability, distributing current draw alternately on each rail, thus increasing its capacity. We opted for two-level voltage regulation, to optimize the power supply to the AOPs and the auxiliary voltage supplied to the modules. One Audiophonics OPA1656 is used per channel. These are very low-distortion PDUs, offering maximum transparency with very low THD. They are mounted on a socket so they can be replaced if necessary. To suit all applications, we've opted for three gain settings, switchable via jumper on the underside of the unit.
Designed for easy integration, the HPA-S500ET features both balanced XLR and single-ended RCA stereo inputs. Bipolar selectors make it easy to change input sources, and even allow independent control of channels. On the output side, insulated Audiophonics terminal blocks (developed in partnership with AEC Connectors) with 24k gold-plated contacts ensure an excellent connection between amplifier and loudspeaker. A dual 5-12V trigger module lets you integrate the amplifier into an automatic on/off chain for your entire audio system.
This amplifier's trigger needs to be used with a mono trigger cable (sold separately).
