We are proud to present the Audiophonics LPA-S600NCX, a Class D stereo power amplifier based on two NCore NCx500 modules. Electronically similar to the HPA-S600NCX, this version is housed in a more compact enclosure, making it easier to use in environments where space is at a premium. Its architecture also limits the length of the internal connections.

This ready-to-use, pre-assembled model is aimed at audiophiles looking for a foolproof amplification solution with a considerable power reserve and impeccable definition. NCore modules are among the most rigorous Class D amplification solutions on the market, with simply exceptional measured performance.

The whole package delivers a high level of sound reproduction, ideal for use with demanding loudspeakers, in large listening rooms or in studio applications requiring considerable headroom without compromising on the precision and richness of the audio message.

All the components are housed in a sober, robust, stylish and compact 100% aluminium enclosure. The enclosure has apertures to promote heat dissipation. Its design also limits the impact of interference on the signal.

Audiophonics interface board

The 2 modules are controlled in phase opposition, to cancel the "Power-Supply Pumping" effect. This makes the power supply more stable, distributing the current draw alternately on each rail, thereby increasing its capacity.

We opted for 2-level voltage regulation, to optimise the power supply to the AOPs and the auxiliary voltage supplied to the modules.

One Audiophonics OPA1656 PDU is used per channel. These are very low distortion PDUs offering the greatest transparency with very low THD. They are mounted on a DIP8 socket, allowing them to be replaced if necessary.

To suit all applications, we have opted for 5 gain settings, switchable via jumper on the underside of the unit :

• Gain of a total of 19dB - Maximum power reached with a 5.33V RMS signal.
• Gain of a total of 25dB (default) - Maximum power reached with a signal of 2.67V RMS.
• Total gain of 31dB - Maximum power reached with a signal of 1.5Vrms
• Total gain of 33dB - Maximum power reached with a signal of 1.2Vrms
• Bypass (buffer deactivated): In this case, the signal passes directly from the inputs to the modules, allowing the lowest possible gain of 12.5dB. This mode can be interesting when using a powerful preamplifier, capable of driving a load of 2 to 4K Ohm and reaching a voltage of 10V RMS.

Connectivity

Designed for easy integration, the LPA-S600NCX has both balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) stereo inputs. Bipolar selectors make it easy to change input sources and even allow independent control of channels.

On the output side, BP-207 carbon / 24k gold insulated terminals (Ø5.5mm) provide an excellent connection to loudspeakers.
