Holo Audio offers with the Serene a fully balanced, high performance preamplifier based on a discrete component design. The left and right channels are separated, each with independent amplifier modules. It also benefits from a two-stage buffer and amplifier section. The preamplifier concentrates largely on its attenuation performance and ensures excellent low level reproduction.

Its discrete amplifier modules focus on the characteristics of the transistors themselves, allowing them to overcome the usual limitations of transistors. A design that promotes a delicate and transparent sound reproduction, combining the advantages of both transistor and tube systems. Moreover, the use of a large number of transistors favors the linearity of the preamplifier.

For its power supply stage, the Holo Audio Serene has a completely independent structure, capable of providing the audio circuits with a perfectly clean and stable electrical signal.

For volume control, the Serene uses an 84dB analog step system with a two channel matching margin of only ±0.1dB. Each step corresponds to 1dB over a range of -78dB to +6dB. It thus offers a very low noise level and can be precisely controlled.

On the connectic side, the Holo Audio Serene provides two XLR inputs and three RCA inputs. On the output side, there are two XLR outputs and one RCA output that can work simultaneously. Moreover, the XLR1 output can power supply a headphone by developing a power of 3W under 32Ω (the preamplifier does not however have a headphone protection circuit).
