The reason for buying this item was impedance matching between DAC and active speakers in my desktop/2nd setup used for Tidal streaming and playing local Flac files. In this case RME ADI-2/Teddy Pardo LPS and Airpulse A100/REL sub. Right out of the box this little preamp sounds really good. It is dynamic, transparent with a soundstage that is quite impressive for the pris tag. This unit also offers the opportunity for opamp rolling. After consulting Audiophonics I change the default opamps to Sparkos and Muses which increased the sq to a higher level. The soundstage is wider and deeper. Transparency is much better with a slight warm midrange. Bass is more dynamic. The presentation is much more musical. This little "no name" preamp is with or without opamp rolling insane good value for the money. It also highlight the importance of a good preamp/impedance matching in a hifi system. Highly recommended. The unit has replaced a Yaqin buffer with Psvane 6SN7 tubes. Other equipments in the setup are Asus router with LPS, Asus ROG miniITX/Ubuntu Studio/Paul Pang USB card with LPS.
