Very engaging and musical DAC
After getting rid of a ground loop by insulating the grounding metal part of the Schuko plug with duct tape it turns out to be a
very nice DAC.
Dear Topping engineers signal ground and safety earth are not the same thing so don't connect them together!
I used only the coax SPDIF input so far.
I wanted to eliminate the long warmup time of my tubed pre amp and tubed DAC and this works well now I can listen to music without having to wait for an hour for everything to sound right.
Oh and how does it sound?
What I lost in depth and spacial definition is more than made up for in musical detail and instrumental timbre is good missing nothing.
Very even sound balance with enough bass and body treble is fine mid range great the music is very engaging and in my system conveys emotion very well so far so good after 36 hours of being switched on.

Sounds thin so far
I’ve got to say after almost 23hrs in my system the little Aiyima DAC A3 at a price one fifth what I paid for this and only .775 volts per channel of output at the RCA’s sounds much stronger than this one with 2.1volts at the RCA’s per channel. I hope with more time it begins to sound more full bodied on the low end but right now I’m a little disappointed in what was supposed to be something much better than what I had. Maybe that changes with more break in. I hope I does because the two Audiophonics 200 watt purifi amps combined with the Topping Pre 90 preamplifier with the little Aiyima DAC A3 was sounding great! Couldn’t be more satisfied with my other purchases. Crossing my fingers for now.
