CONNEX SMPS300REh Switched Mode Power Supply Module 300W ±36V

Connex's SMPS300REh is a dedicated switching power supply for audio amplifiers, capable of delivering full rated power for extended periods. It is based on the previous SMPS300RE, with improved efficiency and cooling, suitable for amplifiers with high power demands, such as high-end Class A and Class AB power amplifiers, as well as Class D amplifiers used in specific applications. It uses a half-bridge resonant topology, capable of delivering 300W continuous and up to 350W peak. The SMPS300REh has a differential output voltage by default, for a single output voltage refer to the SMPS300RS. Output voltages are adjustable within a range of approximately 5-10%, with a voltage value of ±36V in the middle of the range.

The main feature of this power supply is the use of the cooling plate for the power switches and rectifier diodes, which, thanks to increased efficiency of up to 95%, can be used as a heat sink for most applications if installed in a thermally conductive package. Furthermore, the amount of EMI is much lower than that of any competing SMPS and could be compared to that of a high-quality regulated linear power supply.

Because this power supply aims to offer the best performance in an extremely compact format, the electronic components are chosen specifically for their ability to respond to this type of use in terms of voltage and power parameters.

It is therefore not advisable to replace capacitors, even with references deemed ‘more suitable’ for audio criteria. These will not necessarily be adapted to the space and dissipation constraints of the circuit, which can considerably degrade the signal and prematurely wear out the equipment.
