Streamer DAC Preamplifier ESS Sabre WiFi Bluetooth BluOS Dirac Live 32bit 192kHz DSD MQA
Extremely versatile and generous in its features, the NAD C658 is an integrated solution, which is at the same time an audio network player, a high-resolution audiophile DAC and a stereo and phono preamplifier. It is compatible with the BluOS application developed by BlueSound, allowing remote control of the player as well as multi-room integration. Complete, it offers an extensive connectivity, balanced and single-ended, allowing it to be associated with the vast majority of audio systems, but also a wireless and network connectivity with Ethernet RJ45 Gigabit, WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0 bidirectional. It even has a phono (MM) input and two subwoofer outputs for adding subwoofers. Scalable, the C658 also has two slots for additional MDC modules (not included).
The NAD C658's chassis conceals an optimized architecture based on high-end audio components selected to deliver the richest and most accurate sound reproduction possible. It features a 32bit ESS Sabre digital-to-analog conversion chip that offers excellent performance, with a wide dynamic range and low jitter. All the functions of the preamplifier are performed digitally, including the volume control, identical to the one present in the Masters range of the brand. This makes it possible to maintain a short analog circuit, identical for all volume controls. The power supply stage is also optimized to provide a clean electrical signal to all the circuits and thus keep noise and distortion at a very low level.
The versatility of the NAD C658 starts of course with its wide range of digital and analog inputs. Thus, the rear panel of the device offers an Ethernet RJ45 socket, two Toslink Optical inputs, two Coaxial inputs, two RCA line inputs but also a phono (MM) input allowing to connect a vinyl turntable with an MM cartridge.
Equally well suited for operation in a single-ended or balanced integration, the C658 features both an unbalanced RCA and a balanced XLR output with pre-amplification. It also offers a stereo subwoofer output, allowing the connection of one or two subwoofers, for deeper bass. Finally, the front panel of the C658 provides a 6.35mm headphone output.
Of course, the NAD C658 is not to be outdone in terms of network connectivity. It features a dual-band WiFi controller and a two-way Bluetooth chip that supports the high-resolution aptX HD wireless codec. This makes controlling your music playback remotely a breeze.
The BluOS system, on which the NAD C658 is based, is a real boon for music lovers looking for a versatile device and streaming lovers. With its extensive compatibility, it will allow you to enjoy more than 15 online streaming services, such as Spotify, Tidal, Deezer as well as thousands of web radios, but also files stored on your network. It's also an easy way to take control of your system remotely and integrate it into a multi-room ecosystem, with the choice of independent or zone-based management.
The MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) technology, integrated in every BluOS player and device, allows to enjoy an extremely pure sound reproduction, as close as possible to the original recording. The C658 is equipped with a powerful decoder and audio rendering system to take advantage of this file format.
The NAD C658 is the first device of the brand to integrate the Dirac Live Room Correction technology, which is particularly efficient and intuitive. Not only does it correct the frequency response according to the acoustics of your listening room, it also corrects the impulse response of your speakers. A process that allows you to achieve incredible sound transparency, so you can enjoy your music to the fullest.
The C658 includes a Dirac Live license, with the option for advanced users to upgrade to the Dirac Live Full Frequency version.
