ATOHM S500 ICE POWER Class-D Subwoofer Amplifier Module
Specialized in the design and manufacture of high-end loudspeakers and loudspeaker cabinets, ATOHM also designs and offers amplification modules with a very high level of performance.
Thanks to their sophisticated signal processing, ATOHM modules offer a wide choice of settings and connections to meet a wide range of applications such as active subwoofer in closed load or bass-reflex, active loudspeaker, monaural power block.
High technical and musical performance in a minimalist footprint!
Extensive studies have been carried out on components, schematics, layout topology, power supply and general construction.
Performance rhymes here with quality, musicality and reliability.
The ATOHM S500 module includes some important special features, among which are :
ICE POWER TM output stage with 500Wrms of power at 4ohms. Thanks to its class D technology, its excellent efficiency (80%) and its high damping factor make it compatible with any load impedance greater than or equal to 3 ohms. Great musicality and generous power in a very small footprint!
Peak limiter section with 2 levels 0 and -1dB with "soft clipping". When clipped (excess input level) a sinusoidal signal is transformed into a square signal containing an infinite number of perfectly audible odd harmonics (distortion).
In a subwoofer application, this distortion distorts the sound and makes it possible to perfectly locate the subwoofer because it contains high frequencies.
The clipping limiter associated with the low-pass filter stages (variable or LFE) reduces or eliminates clipping distortion.
The X-gard technology ™ overcomes the disadvantages of a conventional subsonic filter by ensuring that the speaker excursion never exceeds an absolute limit (risk of breakage, very high distortion) whatever the amplitude of the input signal.
This technology preserves the signal and its phase (unlike a subsonic filter). The extreme bass is more faithful, the connection with the main speakers more homogeneous and the speaker protected.
It is possible to connect the module via the "pre-out/subwoofer output" of a preamplifier/processor or directly to the speaker outputs (in parallel) of a conventional stereo amplifier.
The S500 module can be by-passed to high performance "hifi" broadband use (mono block) via a simple internal switch. In this case, only the gain control remains active. This can be used to create monitor speakers for example.
