Planar tweeters offer a rich and transparent sound reproduction but do not always have the robustness or reliability necessary for professional use. This Dayton Audio PHT1-6 model is different and integrates a horn allowing it to reach a higher sensitivity as well as a heat resistant Kapton membrane. This allows this speaker to withstand high power levels.

One of the common problems when it comes to tweeter planar is cooling. For this purpose, the PHT1-6 has a heat sink coupled to the membrane conductor at the rear. The heatsink also removes heat from the transducer's rear chamber. The tweeter thus offers a much longer life and is capable of withstanding peak powers up to 160W (80W RMS).
