This latest generation of CRA LD230 loudspeakers is the result of all the experience and expertise acquired by Atohm laboratories during the development and production of previous versions (LD210 and LD230). These 23cm speakers are equipped with the latest refinements of the brand and push back even further the limitations of what can be expected from speakers of this size: impressive performance whether for use as an active subwoofer or as a bass channel for a high-end speaker.

The LD230 CRA, a concentrate of technologies for outstanding performance

The LD230 CRA suspension has an LDS profile and the spider has a progressive geometry that has been the subject of numerous studies and simulations in order to guarantee a very wide range of linear excursion. The spider is made of a material specially chosen for its very low creep rate and constant stiffness coefficient over the nominal excursion range. The suspension has an almost perfect linearity over the maximum excursion range while maintaining a perfect geometry under high stresses (such as in closed load of low volume or internal pressure at the frequency at the tuning frequency of a bass-reflex load). In order to limit dynamic slippage, the spider and suspension assembly behaves in a totally symmetrical way.

The membrane is made of a specific alloy that has been optimized to guarantee perfect rigidity over a very wide bandwidth and always under high stresses. The large 156mm diameter motorization benefits from the proprietary FWI (Force Without Inductance) technology. The carefully dimensioned copper pole pieces and ring allow the reduction and linearization of the inductance value. Depending on the version, the coils are made of copper wire or CCAW (Copper Clad Aluminium Wire). This set of components is optimized to provide a linear and symmetrical force factor over the widest power and excursion range.

In order to considerably reduce operating noise at high amplitudes and improve cooling, the die-cast Aluminium bowl and membrane are equipped with large ventilation openings.
