Updated review - Gustard Audalytic AH90
The AH90 is unique: It is the only device that can act as a DAC, Headphone Amo, and Steamer at this price point and this level of quality. The competition does not offer all 3 in one. Furthermore, after and update the unit is able to output to speakers DSD signals natively rather than converting them. That only works to speakers and for the odd recording that is DSD coded, which are rare in the market.

As a professional musician my sensitivities are not limited to volumes but to being able to hear what people do. This unit has been a joy. Regardless of what type of music and musicians are involved I can hear things. Status Quo was famous for changing guitars to create different sounds durng concerts. This unit will let you hear the difference. As an opera singer, the acoustic of a stage like Munich can make you aware of things you do as a singer that you do. Some houses make a musician reach into their bag of tricks. Think of Queen at Wembley and listen to it on a unit like this and listen to it with this unit: made me smile. No tricks of voicing. My previous SMSL bumped up the bass but never sounded as natural.

If you connect it to your LAN for Upnup or Streaming, you may not need a WiiM unit at all. I still own a WiiM Pro but am sure over my internal system the Gustarender software will sound better.

This is a special machine at this price point. It receives my highest recommendation. It has flexibility the Matrix Mini 4 does not have and is way cheaper than buying several machines to do what this unit does a 3 in !.

This unit is simply wonderful. Instrumental timbres are correct. Instrumental separation is accomplished. The unit is in no way slow in the low bass frequencies. If your speakers tend to beam the treble frequencies, the filters supplied in the DAC are a huge help and don't destroy the musicality. I am joyous over this purchase. I feel confident in saying that this is the best Streaming, DAC, and headphone amp you can buy for 599. FIf you are not Roon centric, you can use a WiiM Pro, because this unit will beat the pants off of the WiiM Pro+. I am still setting everything up and amazed it even bettered my Moon CD-1 with Burr-Brown Chips and I 8 times upsampling. They will be releasing a new firmware to address some concerns expressed by DSD disk owners. I listened to several of mine without the firmware and it is still the best DAC I have heard. It drives ma headphones too. It does not do Chromecast natively but the company says they intend to extend availabilities. Head-Fi has a dedicated page for Gustard owners if you are interested.
