un-artificial, believable, strong and like real. I confirm Herb Reichert’s review at Stereophile. Many years of search without arriving for me. All this oversampling filters or dsd conversion which I studied: interesting but not satisfying in the end, since it never sounded really real. Now with this chinese monster dac baby, I always come back to NOS after playing with different oversampling settings (Hqplayer). And so it will stay. This dac must be have been developed by someone who loves to listen. Many, many thanks to this person(s)!
Still, the r7he mk2 needed some help to shine. In my case I added a singxer su-6 as a ddc, connected by I2S. Better now, but still it was not the sound I wanted. A sound-killing dryness was there. The singxer has a poor switching power supply and the claim is that for its super-capacitor it does not need a proper linear power supply. Simply wrong, at least in my case for this dac. Exchanging the standard PSU of the ddc by a linear PSU was the missing last piece in the puzzle. I guess, if you go with the ddc from audio-gd you get a direct goal. Et voila: my search ended, music is playing to happy ears :-)
